Boohoo, my life is empty, make me a baby. EVERYTHING will be better with a baby. The crumbling relationship, the job at McD’s, the wrinkling body, ..

I salute those who’re brave enough to get an abortion if it’s best for their lives. Not those women who don’t want to take condoms, just those who got raped, had accidents or got into a situation where it’d be a problem to raise a baby savely.

    God :

Let’s face it, if you put a newborn out in the yard to make its way in the world, it ain’t gonna last long unless some wolves take it in (source: Jungle Book/Tarzan). it may be legal now, but pretending that it is any different to kill a baby based solely on whether it is inside or outside the womb is frankly intellectually dishonest.

Also, denigrating religion doesn’t do much to help your argument either. Most people would agree that killing toddlers is evil regardless of their pro-life/pro-choice stance, so that morality seems to hold regardless of whether you are church going folk or not.

What is frustrating is that everyone seems to want to argue on the fringes of the argument (religion, rape, incest, etc.), but all of those issues are irrelevant compared to the issue of whether it constitutes murder to terminate a pregnancy. After all, no one is advocating that it is okay to murder a toddler that resulted from rape or incest if the mother carried it to term and then changed her mind later. If a single mother loses her job and can no longer afford to give a good life to the child we also don’t say “screw it, whack the kid. It’ll be easier that way.”

Underneath it all, and the reason we can’t seem to find common ground on this is that the core issue is when we become humans with the rights due thereto, and unfortunately we don’t have an authoritative way to know one way or the other.

With such high stakes I personally prefer to err on the safe side.

if it were to be born on the spot and not be able to survive on its own then its not a human life, just a parasite

So if abortion is murder, should the mother be charged with murder?

Also what if the baby grows up to want a gay marriage?

    Chrissy :

Yeah, I bet it’s real funny to those that can’t have kids. It’s not like kids are a blessing or anything, but whatever.

You are a dumb whore. Do you realize how many babies are being born that no nice white couple wants?

This earth can only hold so many people. Take care of the ones already here, and don’t worry about the very few in comparison that get aborted.

You seem to have missed the point he was making entirely. No one is suggesting that that killing a baby/toddler/person was acceptable, but rather that aborting a fetus would be. The difference between babies and fetuses is that a baby can survive outside the womb, while a fetus cannot. This is because the baby is sufficiently developed to breathe/eat/etc, whereas the fetus would suffocate/starve. No one is advocating abandoning newborns in a forest.

What you fail to realize is that this criteria does constitute an authoritative way of establishing when a fetus becomes an individual: when it is capable of surviving apart from its mother. Unfortunately people like you refuse to look at the evidence, and instead make up ridiculous pro-abortion arguments to argue against.

hurr if u r for abortions u would kill a toddler MURDERER

This is funny as all hell.

As to the comments, every woman should get to make her own choice in whether or not to have a baby, no matter what the circumstances.

Murder? Hardly. That’s the pussy kind of murder. If they really wanted to kill someone they’d do it the real way and jump a God-fearing Christian in a dark alley. You get more points for a moving target.

I love how all the ‘pro-life’ people fall back on the bible. the bible is like, TWO THOUSAND YEARS old? they never even dreamed of Abortion! So don’t use it today. Also, a life in poverty is o life at all. Nothing is simple. NOTHING!

Also, the about breaking the law, just because something i illegal does not mean it’s wrong. If no one broke the law the Berlin wall would never have fallen, and you Americans would still be in the cold war. (yes, I’m British, and we DON’T wear top hats!)

I’m not glad your mother didn’t abort you. It’s not a BABY until it leaves the womb.Until then it’s a featus.

Also, JF/God (lol at stupid name) A featus can’t breath in the outisde world, a Baby can. GET IT RIGHT! All of you ‘pro-life’ people blur the lines between featus/baby/child. THEY ARE DIFFERENT STAGES OF HUMAN DEVELOPMENT!

Personally I am neither pro-life nor pro-choice. I am pro-education. No one, not even the pro-choice people like abortion, they just see it as another option, but wouldn’t there be less of a need for abortions if more people, men and women, were properly educated about sex? It’s a simple solution, start giving kids and teenagers better sexual education BEFORE they become sexually active and you will have less unwanted pregnancies. I am NOT saying just show them porn and be done with it, no. I am saying present it to them in an age-appropriate way. That way maybe, in the future, abortions wouldn’t be necessary.

How is it that an unborn child cannot defend themselves when abortion is considered?
I am amazed how some people can be so liberal with sex, but when the conception is provided, that they are easily willing to give up a life for their own ignorance? Doesn’t anyone care of another who can’t defend themselves but yet demand their rights be defended?
I guess morality is thrown out the window when it comes to those who only care of their own self rights, but don’t give a damn of others that “don’t fit into their plans.”
The usual retort comes from drug addicts and allowing the kids to suffer, but the majority of abortions come from normal people having unprotected sex and not believing that conception is possible. Then who suffers? The unborn child who will never see life outside the womb.
Nice that people give them the death sentence before the unborn baby can show how precious life really is. What a wonderful society we live in.

    Oh, these comments were great!

I agree that society should start balancing the responsibility a bit more – I mean, for someone to truly believe that keeping your legs closed is the only abstinence (or whatever was said) that indicates the sort of perceptive people have of reproduction and overall sex. The general thought is that men can do whatever they want, but if one of the women they did becomes pregnant, it means she’s a big whore. The guy’s reputation stays completely clear.
Heh, I know this from personal experience. Ladies should really hate men a lot more than they do.

It’s called taking responsibility for you own actions and not making excuses. If you get a girl pregnant, then it is both you and her that should be held responsible for the consequence. There are so many undisciplined people who lack any type of accountability.

(Well that’s easy for me to say huh?) Yes, it is, because I have discipline and morals that I live by, and one of them is that if I get a girl pregnant, it is my responsibility to take care of my child just as my parents took care of me.

    lizzy :

funny how people jump all over those against abortion and refuse to allow them to have an opinion, but if your for it you can say any idiotic thing you want to. I understand that a pregnancy can be an accident, hell, 90% of us wouldn’t be here if it weren’t! But do us a favor and take your adivce, open-mindedness isn’t a one way street. You want us to be open minded? Then perhaps you should consider opinions other than your own. Or at least be respectful of those disagreeing with you.

So this mentality is totally flawed. If you think that abortions are wrong based on crime or population levels, read the statistics shown in the book “Freakonomics.” If you are spiritually against abortion, then to have an open mind means to accept all other opinions on the matter. Since all religion is based on illogical and unprovable beliefs, to be open minded you must allow all people to follow their own crazy beliefs.(Of course, with the exception to murder and theft.)For instance, one could have a religion where the first born is precieved as evil, and it is morally just to abort ones’ first pregnancy. To not let a person of that religion to abort their pregnancy would be akin to allowing them to give birth to satan. So if you are against abortion, you are by definition close-minded. By this logic, however, if you are against abortion this freedom gives you the right not to have an abortion. No one is going to force you to have an abortion, and you will not ever go to your feared “Hell” in your “Afterlife.” So it’s okay, relax, you are going to Heaven!

To take ones life is wrong. Those who claim, “who’s going to pay for an unwanted child”, is naive. We already pay for it. You end up paying either way. But it doesn’t matter. A life is priceless. One thing I don’t see here is, what about the baby’s Rights? Who defends the baby. Being a foster parent and having over 100 foster kids (not at the same time) I see the problems of shitty parents. But to say these kids would have been better off if they were aborted is nonsense. How can anyone kill their child because of inconvenience or blaming it on their stupidity of calling a pregnancy an accident. If you have sex, guess what, you can become pregnant.

Wow, to say that pregnancy is not an accident, or due to a lack of knowledge or education in pregnancy prevention is just stupidity. Couples use condoms and birth control on TOP of having a man remove himself before he ejaculates, and guess what? People still manage to get pregnant. You can take every precaution known to man (and although the chance may be slight) if you’re having sex, you can still get pregnant. Yes, it can be an accident. It’s unplanned.

Car “accident”; unplanned and unwanted, negative connotations
Pregnancy “accident”; unplanned and unwanted, negative connotations.

Sure, you can grow to love a child out of a ‘pregnancy accident’, just as much I can love getting money from car insurance to purchase a new vehicle. Doesn’t mean it wasn’t an accident, or initially negative, to begin with.

Pregnancy can be planned, but that’s a whole different entity entirely in relation to abortion.

I hate to tell you, but I’m not going to cease sexual activity just because there’s a chance of getting pregnant. It’s the same reason that I’m not going to stop eating ice cream just because there’s a slight chance it’s going to make me fat. If you’re going to say “don’t have sex because there’s a possibility it might produce a child”, you might as well deny yourself any other humanly pleasure, which also carries accompanying risks.

I, personally, am pro-choice just because if I was pregnant at a time in my life when I was incapable of caring for my child, I would abort. Plain and simple.

The fact that the pope said condoms shouldn’t be used I find ridiculous, especially coming from a man that won’t ever have sex. Call him divine all you want, but if he was to actually engage in said activities, I bet he’d be a bit more gung-ho about the whole thing.
